Fairy Tales: Elemental Language & Truth

11.5 Continuing Education Credits

On Demand

Live course was held: August 21st, Sept. 18th and 25th , Oct. 16th and 23rd 9-11:30 am PST

Take a journey into classic fairy tales through a Jungian perspective.

In these seminars, we will explore the challenges that our heroines and heroes meet and observe their journeys as they find their way to survival, a new beginning, or disaster. We will work with fairytales from Japan, Europe, and Russia, as well as the Brer Rabbit tales brought to the American south by enslaved Africans.

These tales will show us the challenges of ambivalence, being torn between moral action and self-indulgence, projection or humility. We’ll meet the Baba Yaga of Russia, and the Great Mother of the west. In all of these seminars we will discuss the universal or archetypal patterns, language, and symbols that continue to inform us across cultures and centuries.

Working with fairy tales is not only inspiring and informative, but it is also fun. We hope you will join us to continue our adventures into the magical realms where everyday problems are met with mysterious happenings. In these places, we may find some light that could help us find our way in this troubled world.

Can’t make it live? No problem all webinars will be recorded.

Most fairy tales do indeed contain a kind of natural morality which is elucidated in the course of the action – an ethic of “appropriate” behavior which leads to a happy end, in contrast to inappropriate behavior, which leads to disaster.
