Jung & the Age of Aquarius

Led by Dr. Janis Maxwell, PhD

6 Continuing Education Credits

Recording of an online course from May 15 & 22, 2021
9am-12pm PST

Obviously astrology has much to offer psychology, but what the latter can offer its elder sister is less evident. So far as I judge, it would seem to me advantageous for astrology to take the existence of psychology into account, above all the psychology of the personality and of the unconscious.
— C.G. Jung

This course will examine the social and collective implications of astrological movements from a Jungian perspective as well as the effect that it has on the psyche and civilizations in transition. We will look at prior movements through the zodiacal signs of Taurus, Aries, Pisces, and Aquarius and how they parallel moments of change in civilizations.

Carl Jung wrote that “in astrological tradition, the transition of the vernal equinox into the zodiacal sign of Aquarius, taking place toward the end of the 20th century will coincide with a new advance in human development.” We will explore how this might be manifesting in our world today, what archetypal energies are emerging in the Age of Aquarius, and how they might provide the structure of a new consciousness.

Jung wrote about what happens during these times of transition and, through his writings, we will explore the symbolic meaning of the astrological ages and how they may affect human consciousness. This course will help in understanding the role of archetypal energies in human consciousness, in nature, and on a cosmic level.
